Salford Unique Ladies, is a group aimed at Salford women in business allowing them to connect with each other and support each other in a secure environment.
Many women often feel unconfident when it comes to the business world. For so many years the working world was a place for mass gender discrimination groups like this are so important to improve all women’s confidence with advice and support from others who have similar experiences.
Salford Unique Ladies had their first meeting post COVID in September 2022. Before COVID the group was quite popular with around 30 women attending the sessions.
The second Salford Unique Ladies meet up was on 21st October, with a successful turn out for the event. The founder of Salford Unique Ladies was there too and gave a motivational speech titled ” get those big girl pants on.”
Kathryn Taylor who works in counselling and business currently, is one of the events organisers. ” It’s a women in business network group, but it is designed to be slightly different to a network group. With Unique ladies it’s trying to create a supportive environment for women no matter where you are in business.”
The mission statement for Unique ladies reads, ” our mission is to support all ladies in business, no matter which part of their journey they are at, to achieve their full potential through support, encouragement, knowledge and friendship.”
The members and founders of this group hope that the group will go back to its 30/40 members per session. Kathryn is a trustee of the Salford group but began at the Bolton Unique ladies, “it is my second live meeting and I’m in the process of building it and getting it out there. There was a Salford group before and pre- COVID they were getting around 30 to 40 people there.”
Another member of the group Judith, who is currently running her own business designing kilts said, ” the group has given me friends who have supported me and told me my business ideas will be successful and encouraged me.”
The group encourages women supporting women, Kathryn explains, “with Unique ladies it’s about supporting women in business.” The group acts as a safe space for women to talk without any men in the room and feel confident as many do not in mixed gender work, due to the years of gender equality and the gender pay gap.
The next Unique ladies group will be at the end of November with the Christmas celebration on 2 December.
