Two parks in Salford will be hosting free firework events despite ongoing cancellations throughout Greater Manchester.

Buile Hill Park will be hosting its firework display on November 5th with gates opening at 16:00 for the public. There will be three displays, with smaller shows for younger children and any visitors who do not like loud bangs. This will be followed by the main display.

On Sunday November 6th, Irlam Prince’s Park will be hosting its annual firework night. Gates open to the public at 17:00 with the bonfire starting at 19:00 and then the firework display half an hour later.

There will be no bonfire this year due to the park trying to reduce its carbon footprint. This coincides with Manchester’s ambition to be a net carbon city by 2038.

This is the first time both Buile Hill Park and Irlam Prince’s Park have hosted the firework displays since 2019, with a last minute cancellation due to covid-19 restrictions sparking fury from the local community last year.

This year, both Salford events have been confirmed via Tweets by Salford City Council, despite firework displays such as Heaton Park’s already being cancelled in Manchester due to budgetary costs.

We’re proud to be hosting our Salford Firework Weekend and looking forward to welcoming residents to fantastic, free events for the whole family to enjoy🎆 Find out more: https://t.co/VX8NRBqZX1 pic.twitter.com/OihAdw1Gjz

Manchester Council have said they can not afford to host council run displays due to increased council budget pressures.

Both events are sponsored by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services and controlled by the emergency services in order to keep everyone safe.
