Medical professionals are asking Salfordians for feedback from the city’s deaf community.
The event – at Eccles Library from 3-5pm on Wednesday 19th October – aims to give Salford’s deaf community an opportunity to discuss their experiences with health and care services in the city.
Representatives from hospitals, GPs, dentists and social care will be present to have conversations with deaf people about how to improve services for those with hearing difficulties.
Mike Lupton, Engagement Officer for Healthwatch Salford said:”The event will provide d/Deaf Salford residents the opportunity to give real time, face to face feedback to health and care representatives about their services.
“Healthwatch Salford has co-hosted ‘Silent Voices’ with NHS colleagues for a few years now. This event is the first of its kind that we have run.”
The event also acts as the official launch of Healthwatch Salford’s BSL Feedback Mechanism, which will allow the deaf community to give feedback on health and care services via video message.

He followed: “[The event] is also an opportunity for us at Healthwatch Salford to share our new feedback mechanism, whereby d/Deaf people in Salford can send us a video of them signing in BSL their experiences of health and care services and sending to us via WhatsApp or email.
“We have a feedback page on our website that offers d/Deaf people a number of ways in which to share their feedback with us. They can visit our webpage and follow the menu link, ‘have your say’ then ‘Have your say in BSL’.”
British Sign Language interpreters will be present to facilitate the conversations.
