Salford-based charity, Youth Leads UK, has campaigned for young people to help promote diversity in NHS Hospitals.
Teaming up with Bolton NHS, the MediaCity-based organisation is asking for young people aged 14-25 to be part of a photography day in different settings around the Hospital.
The day hopes to better represent the community in which it serves.
Founded in 2011, Youth Leads UK works to give young people a voice and encourages its members to develop life skills, lead volunteering projects and influence change with decision-makers.
Youth Leads UK recently marked its tenth year by celebrating the difference young people have made in their local communities.
Hosted at Manchester’s Hyatt Regency Hotel, the event saw over 40 young people ‘graduate’ from the charity’s programme. Among those invited include: royal representatives, civic mayors and key decision makers.
The event was led by young people on Youth Leads UK’s current programmes who spoke about their experiences and how they’ve developed skills for life. They also spoke about the importance of decision-makers engaging with younger generations.
So far, the MediaCity-based charity has supported over 12,500 young people across Salford and Greater Manchester. Saeed Atcha MBE DL, Founder and CEO of Youth Leads UK said: “Young people care about the world around them, and we’re proud to have provided a platform for them to make a difference.
“The future is in safe hands with the amazing young people we work with every day. Here’s to the next 10 years.”
High profile guests attending the event included Deputy Lieutenant Melanie Bryan OBE DL, the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester Lorraine Worsley-Carter MBE DL, the Lord Mayor of Manchester, the Mayor of Bolton, the Mayor of Trafford, the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Wigan, Yasmin Qureshi MP and Greater Manchester Police Superintendent Richard McNamara.
