Irlam’s NWCFL Premier match against Longridge Town has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
This is the second Irlam match in a row that has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, highlighting the effects storms Eunice, Dudley and Franklyn have had on North West’s football clubs.
Irlam took on Northern Premier League outfit Atherton Collies, in a friendly due to the postponement of their league game at Charnock Richard. They lost 3-1 but this was valuable game time amidst the postponements over the past week.
The Longridge match will be rescheduled and Irlam will be looking to build on their seven game unbeaten streak on Saturday against Skelmersdale. John Main’s men sit second in the form table and are looking to rise up the table to second place.

The game that was meant to take place tonight has become the fifth postponed Irlam fixture of the season.
This allows the teams around Irlam to get further ahead and for teams below them to make up ground.
Longridge Town would have come into the match off the back of two emphatic wins. They defeated Lower Breck 6-1 and Runcorn Town 4-1 away from home. The Ridge have won three of their last six matches and would have been looking to go three unbeaten.
