Salford City’s mid-table League Two fixture against Crawley Town has been postponed due to poor weather conditions caused by Storm Eunice.
A warning was sent out at 14:45 on February 18 stating that a ‘precautionary pitch inspection’ would be taking place at 9:00am the following morning.
This was before an official statement was released by the club’s Twitter the next day, officially confirming the fixture’s postponement:

“The surface passed a preliminary pitch inspection by the match official at 9am, with the officials due to return at 12:30pm,” the statement reads.
“However rainfall continuously fell throughout the morning, and when we requested that the match referee return earlier to re-assess he deemed the surface unplayable.”
The club apologised to the fans for any inconvenience caused and announced that match tickets will remain valid for the rearranged date for the fixture.
Fans can also seek a refund for their tickets if they desire, with them becoming available once a rearranged date for the fixture has been announced.
This fixture could have been a great opportunity for Salford to build off of their 2-0 win over Leyton Orient last week, highlights of which can be seen below:
A win for Salford, against Crawley, could have pushed them up into the play-off places, leapfrogging Newport County – however this would have relied on both Swindon Town and Port Vale dropping points.
The postponement also gives Bristol Rovers the opportunity to momentarily catch Salford in the table and still have another game in hand over them, as Rovers had two going into this match day.
Salford’s game was not Saturday’s only League Two postponement, as both Exeter City vs Barrow and Harrogate Town vs Leyton Orient were also both called off due to the weather.

Harrogate’s game was called off due to excessive snowfall, whereas the Exeter City vs Barrow match was put into jeopardy due to safety concerns regarding the stability of the stadium, with fears that a collapse could occur.
Salford’s next fixture sees them travel to The County Ground to take on Swindon Town next Saturday, February 26.
