Greater Manchester Police cordoned off Trinity Bridge connecting Salford to Manchester in connection to the disappearance of 20-year-old student, Charley Gadd.
A large police presence, including boats with divers, arrived at the scene outside the Lowry Hotel at 10:00 AM.
Officers refused to comment but Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the search is in connection with Charley Gadd who went missing on Saturday morning.
He was last seen on CCTV near the Royal Exchange at 01:11AM wearing a red jacket and blue jeans.
Charley’s father, Jolyon Gadd said: “We really appreciate all the support and kind comments given by local people on social media, and ask that you please keep this in the public eye locally until we find Charley. However, we would ask that our privacy also please be respected at this time.”

Enquiries are on-going and searches are being carried out but officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Charley or has any information.
