Humbug Art, based in Eccles, first opened in 2018 with Art for Enjoyment classes and they have since expanded with a variety of classes for different ages.
Hannah Brown, the owner of Humbug Art, said, “I started with just the corner of this studio space and thought I should expand rather than having it just for me, I really like working with so many different people so I decided that I would start the Art for Enjoyment class”.
They offer a range of classes including The Art After School Club (for 6–12-year-olds), The League of Artists (for 11–14-year-olds), and Art for Enjoyment and Life Drawing (for adults).
Hannah said: “I’ve always loved running clubs and workshops and for me it’s such a privilege to be able to work with so many different people.”
Humbug Art Studio are based in Eccles, so predominantly have people from the local community attending but Hannah said: “we do have people coming from all over the place, anyone is welcome”.
Throughout the last year, they had been forced to take all the classes online due to COVID-19, Hannah said: “I liked that I had lots of people join my classes that I couldn’t normally reach, so I had people in Aberdeen, Bournemouth and Liverpool all joining which was so nice.”
Hannah mentioned her classes are open to anyone who wants “to do some painting and drawing and have a chat with a brew”.
Zal Blackburn, who has started attending classes for the past few months, after not doing any art since high school, said: “Hannah has helped me develop as well as other people on the course, I can really see an improvement since the first classes.”
He commented: “I enjoy the social side, especially meeting new people”.
Humbug Art are currently preparing for the Christmas period and New Year with new classes and Christmas themed projects for all ages.
With the approaching winter months, owner Hannah Brown has given her art studio a “facelift” with lower ceilings, Christmas lighting and more sociable seating.
.The studio are changing the themes of their sessions to suit the festive period, running activities such as; lantern making, landscape drawing and making Christmas cards
There is also a series of Decoupage Decorations classes available for those wanting to create festive decorations.
