St Thomas’ Church in Pendleton is excited to bring the Christmas spirit to Salford with their annual Christmas concert.
Conducted by the talented Tom Newell, the concert will take place on the 18th December starting at 6.30 pm.
The evening will include traditional Christmas carols sung by the talented Salford Choral Society.
Peter Beenham, who is a long-standing member of the choir, said: “We will do the usual carols so the audience can join in.
“The choir will do some on their own, but it gives a chance for the audience to join in.”
Peter has regularly composed carols that have been sung at previous Christmas concerts. This year, the choir are singing his version of the classic Christmas carol ‘Silent Night’.
Salford Choral Society has existed since 1947 and they have been doing carol concerts since 1957.
Due to COVID-19, the choir was sadly unable to practice or perform.
They practiced over zoom and in September they were back in person.
Peter said: “I enjoy rehearsals. You are there with all sorts of different people who do all kinds of things, it is really interesting.
“It adds a bit of art and culture to the area.”
The event includes festive music, poems, and readings to get the community in the Christmas spirit.
General admission for the concert is £10, costing £3 for 12-18 years and under 12’s free making it welcoming to all the family.
St Thomas’ Church has lots of parking available and has wheelchair access.
To follow government guidelines, the audience is expected to wear face coverings and the church will be laid out to maximise space.
