A power cut left homes without electricity in Broughton, Pendleton, and Kersal.
The outage, which was first reported at 14:18, has affected close to 8,000 residents. Electricity North West has reported the outage to be mostly affecting people in the M7 postcode area, however there have also been outages in the M3 and M6 areas.
The energy distributor, which provides maintenance for the entire North-West of England, expects the issue to be solved by 17:18.
Rowland Ndoma-Egba, who lives on Gerald Road, was in the middle of an online lecture when the power went out.
He said: “I was in a call and then suddenly all the power went out. No lights, no WiFi, nothing. It lasted about ten minutes but then the power came back. It affected the whole street though.”
Due to the outage shops in Salford have had to close early, such as the Tesco Extra on Foursquare Tips, opposite Salford shopping centre.
We are aware of a #powercut in #Manchester (M6) affecting 7911 customers. We have an engineer on their way to investigate the cause. More updates to follow shortly. If you require any further assistance, please call us on 105.
