Colleagues and Residents at Pendleton Court nursing and residential care home have raised over £400 and still counting, after they went on a sponsored walk yesterday around their local park.
The aim of this walk was to raise funds for a sensory touch table for the residents.
The Wellbeing Coordinator, Lesley Moore, carer Helen, and residents Anne Fellows and Joyce Cotgrave all took a stroll through the park to raise money for this cause.
The Kind Care Company have said: “they enjoyed watching the dogs and children playing in the park, and the support from the relatives has been amazing and very generous.
“Joyce and Anne had a blast and enjoyed the fresh air.”
Joyce said: “It was great, and I hope we raise a lot of money!”
Studies have shown that regular use of sensory stimulation can be very helpful in treating memory issues in elderly patients with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. A sensory touch table would be very beneficial to the residents of Pendleton Court, because it will offer them different ways to communicate and engage all five of their senses that could trigger positive thoughts, feelings and memories.
Pendleton Court has also already started their annual shoebox appeal, where shoeboxes are filled with toiletries, treats, and Christmas gifts for each resident.
Lesley, the Activities Coordinator said: “We have support from Tesco and Dancing With Dementia, but anyone can donate by dropping off at the home.
“Unfortunately, we aren’t able to have a Christmas Fete because of the Covid restrictions that are still in place, however residents will be having raffles and filling in football cards.”
If you would like to donate money to Pendleton Court for their sensory touch table, or a Christmas shoe box, you can drop off your donations at the home on Chaseley road, Salford.
