Coming to Salford

The fighter trains at Force Fitness in Wigan and the British Wrestling Academy in Salford, close to where he lives.

Mokaev has an intriguing and inspirational story, first coming to the UK as a refugee aged 12. After living in Wigan and first getting into wrestling, he moved to Salford.

In Salford, he could train almost regularly at the Wrestling Academy, where he is still a member of the GB Wrestling Team.

The Home Office

During April, Mokaev made headlines as his wife’s visitors visa was rejected by the Home Office. However, he and many people felt this was an injustice particularly after representing the country’s wrestling team for 9 years.

The decision caused an uproar among friends and fans alike. Although following public pressure, the ruling was finally overturned on April 28 after the evidence was re-examined. At this point, the fighter gracefully thanked the Secretary of State and stated his gratitude.
