Professional artist Susan Aggarwal is selling a range of rainbow-coloured floral paintings in aid of Salford Royal Hospital’s critical care unit.
Ms Aggarwal has already donated more than £1,000 to the hospital and has another fundraiser next month.
The idea came after she created a portrait of floral images as a way of expressing her grief over the death of her mother at the start of lockdown last year.
Blown away by the support for the artwork on social media, she created a themed series of prints and sets entitled, ‘A Rainbow of Flowers Our NHS’.
Proceeds from her artwork have been donated to NorthCare Charity, which supports Salford Royal Hospital.
In particular, proceeds have gone to a fund that supports both staff and patients in the critical care unit of the hospital.
Ms Aggarwal said: “Being part of a group of people who have all come together to raise £1,000 to make a difference in another human being’s life is what life is for me.
“It is the generosity of the beautiful people who bought my work that made it happen, so thank you to all my supporters for their kindness and humanity.
“I wanted to support the NHS because for me it was the most natural thing to do – support the people who are saving our lives. It helped me by giving something back to the NHS and CCU at Salford Royal, which has an incredibly valuable array of most gifted dedicated and compassionate healthcare professionals.”
Ms Aggarwal is set to host a summer exhibition of the artwork at her Woodend Mill studio in Mossley on June 26-27, with 20 per cent of the proceeds going to NorthCare. For more information click here.
