RHS Bridgewater Garden

Last week the RHS Garden Bridgewater opened to the public and lots of educational activities from theatre performances to planting workshops have been planned to take place over the summer half term.

All activities are included with garden admission and free to RHS members and children under five and not to forget that admission is also free for Salford residents every Tuesday for the rest of this year!

Here is a guide to everything that is happening:

Get up and Grow garden trail
From Saturday 29 May- 6 June a daily self guided Get up and Grow garden trail will be taking place from 10am-6pm where children can follow a dedicated map to learn about the different pollinators around the garden and the flowers they love. Once completed, garden explorers can go to the Welcome Building to collect a special prize.

Greenshoots Yoga
Stockport based Greenshoots Yoga will be holding several classes from Saturday 29 May – 4 June spread between ages 5-9+ to help children engage with nature by incorporating creative stories and themes to the mindful yoga sessions.

-Saturday 29 and 30 ages 5–8: 11am
-Wednesday 2 June
ages 5–8: 11am
ages 9+: 12 noon
-Thursday 3 June ages 5–8: 11am
-Friday 4 June 2021
ages 5–8: 11am
ages 9+: 12 noon

Bee-themed family workshop and Bee Cart performances
On May 29-30 families are invited to take part in a bee-themed workshop between 1-3pm and and on May 31 – 1 June, Sheffield based Pif-Paf Theatre Company will be bringing their wonderful Bee Cart, a mobile world of interaction where children can learn all about bees and why they are so important to us with shows scheduled at 11.30am, 1pm, 3pm.

Incredible Education family planting workshop
Incredible Education, a social enterprise specialising in health & wellbeing programmes that are delivered through horticulture will be holding their very own family planting workshops on June 3 and June 4 between 1–3pm where families can learn how to grow their own plants and produce at home and at the end of the event, all participants will be given their very own seedlings to grow and put their knowledge to the test.

Different growing activities will also be held at 1.30–3pm on June 2, 5 and 6 for families to enjoy.

Under 5s storytelling – Busy, Buzzy, Bees
The last set of events to happen is a fun under 5s storytelling session to tell the importance of bees and their contribution to the planet through a child’s perspective and creative eye. The session will take place at 11am on Saturday 5 June and Sunday 6 June.
