Excited Salford football fans will be returning to Old Trafford tonight for the first time in over 14 months.
10,000 lucky United fans will get the chance to see the Reds in live action as they host Fulham in their last home game of the season (18:00).
It will mark a big step back into normality for so many fans, many whose last game live would have been United’s home victory against neighbours Manchester City, back on March 8 last year.
We were outside Old Trafford this afternoon speaking to those lucky enough to grab a ticket for the game tonight.
We also spoke to Ian Rutter, 56, who travels a round trip of 182 miles from his home in Shropshire for every home game and expressed his delight at being able to return tonight.
He said: “I can’t wait for it. It’ll be so nice to be home after so long away.
“I just hope after so long away the boys will put in a performance and show us what we’ve missed.
“I think tonight will give us a taste of what we’ve missed, and hopefully from the start of next season we can have 75,000 Reds packed in every week.”
Fans also took to social media to express their delight at being able to return.
It’s going to be great to have fans back inside Old Trafford tonight.
It should give the players a nice lift to see out the season ahead of the Europa League Final next week.
Let’s show them our passion! #MUFC #MUNFUL

Ah seeing the fans back at Old Trafford tonight is gonna be an emotional one. Been more than a year without fans. And it’s been difficult. Hasn’t felt the same. It’s gonna be great and I haven’t been this excited for a football game in a long time.

Salford City could have had fans back this evening as well, but due to them missing out on the League two play-offs will have to wait until next season to welcome fans back to the Peninsula Stadium.
