Salford’s, ‘The Eagle Inn’, in partnership with 0161Community is set to host a community BBQ for the people of Salford and Manchester.
The pub, situated on Salford’s Collier Street, has felt the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, with it having to spend large portions of the year with its doors shut.
Hopefully, this summer the venue’s fortunes are set to change, opening up to host a join community BBQ with group 0161Community on August 21st.

This is a welcome change for landlady Esther Maylor, who is excited to get back into the swing of events.
Maylor said, “The BBQ in August with 0161 Community is certainly a celebration of peoples resilience over the last year, especially the volunteers who have been working hard to serve the wider Manchester Community.
“We hope it will be a joyous event where people can hug each other and feel reconnected after so much separation.”
Pubs were ordered to shut in January as the result of a third national lockdown. Due to this many pubs, such as The Eagle Inn found this past year almost unbearable.
The event is being run in conjunction with 0161Community, a Manchester group who strive to empower the unheard and and provide people with skills and guidance.
“The BBQ in August with 0161 Community is certainly a celebration of peoples resilience over the last year, especially the volunteers who have been working hard to serve the wider Manchester Community. We hope it will be a joyous event where people can hug each other and feel reconnected after so much separation.” Maylor said. “Personally I have become more involved since the second lockdown when I was lucky enough to be given a car, and made a promise that I would make sure I used it to help others
“So got involved with delivering food and sanitary products to those requesting assistance. I also had a magical time at Christmas helping with a distanced outdoor roving grotto bringing some small joy and presents to families in less affluent areas of town.”
The venue has previously played host to a wide variety of musical acts, from Fontaines DC to I Am Kloot. But now, the venue is looking forward to hosting the residence of Salford. No guestlist required.
