The Lowry is hosting a free Zoom tour called “The Secrets of Chapel Street and Peel Park”.
The first of the three-part tour was led, by Jonathan Schofield, this afternoon at 1pm.
The remaining tours will be held over the next two weeks on March 18 and 25, again at 1pm.
They say the tours have: “Superb images and maps and a lively commentary chock full with humour, these virtual excursions will be both entertaining and informative.
“There are stories of amazing churches, great pubs, invading armies, dole protests, novelists and songwriters, of elegant generals, important newspaper editors and 21st-century re-invention.”
There is also time for people to discuss their own thoughts or relive memories at the conclusion.

“As a Chapel Street resident, I thoroughly enjoyed Part One of this history of the area! Cheers @JonathSchofield – as fascinating & informative as ever! I’m looking forward to the next instalments.”
This is the second zoom tour that has been hosted by The Lowry, which follows an LS Lowry gallery tour that they held for patrons and supporters last August.
The tour is in partnership with Salford City Council Park Ranger team, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Other online events have been held by The Lowry this month, including the live immersive cooking show, “May Contain Food” which encourages ticket holders to get involved and cook alongside a performance of dance and musical theatre created by choreographer Luca Silvestrini and composer Orlando Gough. This is available on-demand until March 14.
Another highly anticipated online event, hosted by The Lowry, is “White Rabbit Red Rabbit”, featuring Jason Manford. This will also be hosted on Zoom at 8pm on March 13.
