Elves will be out to entertain in Irlam and Cadishead as their annual parade with Santa brings some festive cheer to the local community tomorrow morning.
The parade organised by the Hamilton Davies Trust will involve a steam engine with a trailer of Santa and his elves, at a safe distance, making the journey through Irlam and Cadishead.
The charity’s communications co-ordinator Mandy Eccles will be helping to run the event, alongside operations manager Tony Prescott.

Santa Claus is coming to town….well Cadishead and Irlam actually.

Mandy said: “It is a real joy to see people coming out from the local community to spread some festive cheer.”
Tony added: “It is particularly difficult with the Covid-19 measures and with everything that has happened this year. We are hoping that this will cheer people up and bit and it is a boost that I think we all need right now.
“It will be great for the kids to give Santa and his elves a wave.”
The Elf Trailer has become a popular annual event in Irlam and Cadishead, put on by the Hamilton Davies Trust team, to bring some festive cheer to the local district. The trailer is pulled by an old Steam Engine called ’Old Faithful’ which in itself attracts a lot of attention,
He said: “We are much more than just a grant-giving charity because we are effectively the central hub of Irlam and Cadishead. Putting on events like this is a real pleasure.
“The team dress up as Santa and Elves and enjoy tootling from our offices at Hamilton Davies House (the old George Hotel) in Cadishead and up to Greggs roundabout in Higher Irlam.”
The Elf Trailer will leave the Hamilton Davies Trust at 10am, arriving at Greggs at approximately 10.40am. The steam engine will then turn around and return to the Hamilton Davies Trust at around 11.30am.
Mandy said: “We get many motorists peeping their horns too (with pleasure)…all in all it’s just a joyous festive morning. With Covid-19 restrictions this year, some of the elves have had to stop at the North Pole… to allow for adequate social distancing on the trailer, but Santa will still be accompanied by six elves.”
