Two men and a woman have been arrested after a package was thrown into the grounds of Forest Bank Prison in Salford yesterday afternoon.
Officers saw a package being retrieved in the exercise yard of the prison around 1pm on Sunday December 6.
Class B controlled substances were recovered from the grounds of Forest Bank prison.

Inspector Simon Edwards, of GMP’s Salford division, said: “This was some shrewd and astute police work from our response officers to ensure that three people have been arrested in relation to this incident.
“We work closely with our colleagues in the prison service to act on any intelligence or reports of such activity happening around the perimeter of the prison ground, and this was a great example of proactive policing from our officers who used their initiative.”
As the investigation is ongoing members of the public have been asked to report any suspicious activity that they might have seen in the area to Crimestoppers which can be contacted anonymously.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 quoting incident number 1189 of 06/12/2020. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
A 22-year-old woman and two men aged 29 and 21 were later arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs and the conveyance of these items. A Ford Fiesta car was impounded.
