Richie Wellens, Salford City Manager

Following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Bradford City, Salford could win back to back league games for the first time this season and jump back into the playoff places, with a victory over Morecombe tomorrow night.

Richie Wellens’ side bounced back from a 2-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers, with a fine win over Bradford City this weekend to earn Wellen’s first win at the wheel as Salford City boss.

As well as Salford being able to achieve back to back league wins for the first time this season with a win over Morecombe, 3 points could also push Salford back in the play off places if other results this week go their way. However, Salford have an all important game in hand.

Morecombe though are in decent form themselves, sitting just two places below Salford in the table, they are unbeaten in their last four league games, although they have drawn their last three.

Salford City will want to keep an eye on Morecombe’s Adam Phillips, on loan from Premier League club Burnley, Philips has been excellent so far this season and is by far and away the clubs top scorer with 7 goals.

When asked about the upcoming challenge of Morecombe in his post match press conference following the 3-0 Bradford win. Wellens said, his team ‘have set the standard now, we make sure the lads recover well and we come in on Monday with our thinking caps on ready to learn what Morecombe can do.’

Another encouraging statistic for the Ammies is their home form, Salford are unbeaten at Moor Lane this season and have won their last two at home without conceding, which makes for ominous reading for Morecombe.

Despite this though, Salford are somewhat draw specialists at home in the League this season, having drawn 4 and won 3, this is something that Wellens will want to address, as a win can potentially kick start their promotion push this season.
