Filming for a new CBBC series “My Mum Tracy Beaker” has started rolling in Eccles town centre this week.
Eccles got a taste of La La Land this week as CBBC begin to bring the classic children’s show Tracy Beaker back to the silver screen following Jaqueline Wilson’s iconic character in the 2018 book “My Mum Tracy Beaker”.
Although secretive about the finer points of the series, a Location Martial on-set confirmed: “we’re filming for four weeks or a month or so.
“I’m not sure how long we’ll be in Eccles for”.
There was a lot of buzz amongst locals as the set of My Mum Tracy Beaker shot up in Eccles shopping centre.
Rachael, an employee at Eccles British Red Cross, said: “It’s exciting; I did want to know if she was the original actor, which she is, so that’s great.”
Locals are embracing the film crew’s arrival to Eccles.
Resident Carol said: “I think its great, it should bring customers to the centre.
“There are no customers here anyway because the shops are closing (due to COVID-19). So hopefully, this brings them back.”
Eccles is familiar with the tinsel town treatment. Even as early as January, Eccles was home to Channel 4 LGBTQ+ 80’s drama and Netflix series The Stranger.
