St Ambrose Barlow RC High School has reopened, after a ‘very high level of staff absence’ resulted in the school closing for the day on Friday.
All years aside from year 9, who are working online, have returned to school today.
On Friday morning the parents received texts and emails to inform them of the decision. The school explained that they had no choice ‘because of uncertainty about further staff absence during the day’.
Classes were delivered online and eligible students were delivered free school meals.
Headteacher, Ben Davies said that opening the school wouldn’t have been ‘safe or responsible’ as it would ‘not ensure a high standard of education’.
The school did not mention Coronavirus in their statement.
Davies had predicted that the school would be back open today. He made the announcement that this would be the case on the school website this morning.
