Sale Sharks host top-of-the-table Exeter Chiefs on Friday night in round 15 of the Gallagher Premiership, in the hope they can recover from last week’s restart defeat to Harlequins.
The Sharks will be looking to rediscover their form after their 16-10 defeat against the Quins put an end to a three-match winning streak in the league that stretched back to February.
And the home advantage could make the difference for Sale, who have lost only one league game in the last twelve months at the AJ Bell Stadium – a fortress that has not tasted defeat since the opening round of the season at the hands of Gloucester.
Both sides met in round 9, with Sale leaving Sandy Park as 22-19 winners – a feat that, if repeated, will be the first time the Sharks have done the double over the Devonians in the same Premiership season.
Meanwhile, Exeter had the perfect restart in the previous round after recording a 26-13 victory over Leicester Tigers.
Exeter sit eight points clear at the top of the standings – nine ahead of Sale who are trailing second-place Bristol Bears by just a point.
And the Chiefs will be matching Sale’s formidable home record with an impressive away form, losing only two games on the road in all competitions since October 2019.
Exeter will be going into Friday’s clash looking to make it three league wins in a row – and five on the bounce in all tournaments at the AJ Bell.
Friday’s game between Sale Sharks and Exeter Chiefs kicks off at 18:00 BST at the AJ Bell Stadium and will be live on BT Sport 2 HD.
