Thanks to changes in how the Government is reporting covid statistics, Salford’s confirmed case number has jumped by over 300.

Salford was on 986 confirmed cases of coronavirus yesterday.

This is because the Government has only been reporting numbers of cases confirmed in a hospital or laboratory setting, such as healthcare workers and the most severe cases, the OLD numbers.

However, today the Government started including results from home testing kits and other non-essential settings, the NEW numbers.

This has, on the surface, caused a massive increase across many regions.

With that in mind, the current number of cases in each region is as follows:

SALFORD:

OLD: 986 NEW: 1,297

BURY:

OLD: 819 NEW: 1,261

BOLTON:

OLD: 1,063 NEW: 1,785

ROCHDALE:

OLD: 892 NEW: 1,528

OLDHAM:

OLD: 1,163 NEW: 1,811

TAMESIDE:

OLD: 886 NEW: 1,496

STOCKPORT:

OLD: 1,093 NEW: 1,613

MANCHESTER:

OLD: 1,744 NEW: 2,835

TRAFFORD:

OLD: 885 NEW: 1,240

WIGAN:

OLD: 1,235 NEW: 2,109

The Government has placed the notice below on it’s dashboard.
