The Chairman of Lancashire Cricket David Hodgkiss OBE has passed away aged 71.
Hodgkiss was a servant at the club for over 20 years, being the club’s Honorary Treasurer and Vice Chairman before becoming the Chairman in 2017.
“He was much loved by everyone at Lancashire Cricket Club and respected throughout the cricketing world.
Our sincere condolences and thoughts and prayers are with his family. A further statement will be released in due course but at this time we ask that everybody respects the family’s privacy,” a club statement said.
Hodgkiss played a key role in the redevelopment of Emirates Old Trafford including the construction and opening of The Point as well as helping to fund the partnership between the club and the Hilton hotel group.
As well as being Chairman at Lancashire Cricket, Hodgkiss was also the CEO of the William Hare Group – a leading steel fabrication company in the UK.
