Though neither of the boys can predict the terrible incident that may shatter their lives forever…

The tale covers a wide range of social, cultural and political issues in Afghanistan, using impeccable staging, props and lighting to do so.

The Kite Runner, written by Khaled Hosseini, has sold 21 million copies worldwide; and now the stage adaptation can bring lovers of his writing to the stage. When the novel was published in 2003 it became an unexpected bestseller.

The adaptation by Matthew Spangler has been described by The Stage as the :”best page-to-stage since war horse.”

The director, Giles Croft spoke to Big Issue North. He said: “To get the endorsement of the Muslim community is really important. For them to feel engaged by it and to feel that it speaks truthfully about their culture. The piece is written by a guy who is Muslim and has been through a lot of this stuff – it has the integrity and honesty of that.”
