A comedy night is being held on the first Tuesday of every month in the New Adelphi Theatre.
The New Adelphi Comedy Night has been running for three years and mixes performances from students with an open mic free to all.
The event is an opportunity to find the new faces of comedy. and a platform for students from the University of Salford to showcase their work.
“Basically it’s a platform for students to test material,” says Ash Cox, front-of-house and audience co-ordinator at the New Adelphi Theatre, “It’s an amazing night and always packed out.”
Performers can showcase their talent through stand-ups, sketches, songs and improvisation.
The night is in collaboration with ComedySportz, an improv comedy troupe.
The idea for this group was brought from the US to the U.K in 2001 by Brainne Edge, a lecturer in Media and Performance, Comedy Writing and Performance at the university.
The next show is March 5th, at 7:30pm.
Entry is £3, with a free sweet upon entry.
The spring/summer programme for the New Adelphi Theatre will be released on the 13th February.
Upcoming shows include ‘First Time’ by Nathaniel Hall this Saturday, and ‘Alfie Ordinary’, showing on the 24th February.
