Manchester River Cruises have launched their annual Christmas Cruise that takes passengers on a scenic evening trip through the River Irwell.
Boarding at Pier Eight, Salford Quays, the two-and-a-half hour cruise takes passengers on a festive trip up the River Irwell towards Spinningfields, Manchester.
The night is filled with live music, Christmas canopies and an endless supply of mince pies.
Captain Simon Salt said: “We put about 36 people on the ship and they all get a glass of sparkly when they arrive.
“Afterwards things tend to start to get rowdy; dancing in the isles, and sometimes on the poles. It’s all a bit of fun really.”
Serenaded by the voice of Russell Shaun, passengers are able to sing along to Christmas classics whilst they pass city sights such as MediaCityUK and the skyscrapers of Manchester.
Rita, 65, is an avid fan of the cruise, as she returned a second-year in a row for night out with her high school friends:
“We reunited 5 years ago, and we have been going on these cruises ever since.
It’s absolutely brilliant, it makes us all feel like we are 15 again and there’s no better way to celebrate friendship than coming together to listen to Christmas songs, and get merry on mulled wine.”
With four more Christmas Evening Cruises set to sail, Captain Simon Salt is looking forward to more passengers boarding the Princess Katherine:
“As the big day draws closer, you can feel the excitement from everyone who boards. We always make sure everyone leaves with a smile on their face, and that’s what Christmas is all about.”
Manchester River Cruises also has a family-friendly event with Father Christmas, where children will be able to board at the chance to meet Santa Clause.
