I travelled around Salford asking people about any unique or even bizarre traditions they partake in each year, but this proved to be quite challenging as I seemed to only speak with your standard turkey dinner, speech at three, milk and nuts in the evening demographic.
I asked Terri Lee, 24, from Manchester if she had any festive traditions, she said: ”No not really.
”Oh we’ll like open one present on Christmas Eve.”
She was not alone in her lack of Christmas commitments however.
Michelle, 52, from Manchester said: ”Aw no, i think it’s all about just being together. Not necessarily about the gifts.”
She was also quick to express her love of ”a nice, home-cooked meal.”
Joe McGrath, 28, from Stockport said: ”Aw, chinese takeaway on Christmas eve, gotta be the one.
”I always watch ‘The Royle Family’, i absolutely adore ‘The Royle Family’.
”Christmas day, you start drinking way too early, and have a bit of a sing-song we always like to play tunes very loudly and sing very badly.”
Katie, 25, from Manchester said: ”Erm, well my family are from Middlesborough so we always go and see a borough match.
”We do a one pound CD challenge, among the family so we get names drawn out a hat, like secret Santa, but we have one pound and we have to find a CD and we give each other the CD we think they’d like.”
