A live performance of best musical Christmas classics will be hosted by Salford Museum on Sunday December 17.
The concert is in partnership with Music and Performing Arts Salford (MAPAS) and will be held in the Victorian gallery.
MAPAS is a Salford-based membership scheme. It aims to give opportunity for children and adults to take part in creative activities across the city, as well as offering tuition in schools.
The performance is free to attend and is between 1-3pm, no tickets are required.
Ms. Lafferty, who works at the museum said: “It’ll be in the Victorian gallery. It’s a live performance of Salford Museum performing arts group. They’re doing literally the most Christmassy sing-along vibe you can get”.
The one-off concert also invites visitors to head to Lark Hill Place, a recreated street inside the museum representing the Victorian era. The street is named after the mansion house built on the site in the 18th or 19th century. The street has had festive additions, most notably a Christmas tree.
Lark Hill Place features original shop fronts and objects from the time, including vehicles, shops and businesses. This attempts to recreate past living conditions in the Salford Victorian era by displaying products and objects from today.
During that time poor families would have had little-to-no money at Christmas and Boxing Day was when servants would traditionally have the day off and open presents from their employers.
A host of other events and activities are taking place at the museum and art gallery this Christmas. There will be a breakfast with Santa which includes drinks and food included within the ticket. As well as this, there is a craft social decorating Christmas ornaments.
Ms. Lafferty explained other events taking place at the museum; “There is also the winter festival taking place at Ordsall Hall which is everything you can think of with Christmas vibes. We also have reef making where you can go forage your own objects. There is a lot of crafts events this year”.
The winter festival is free and on Sunday December 11, with no booking required. There will be indoor and outdoor activities, and is family orientated.
More information is on the Salford Museum & Art Gallery website, which includes details of other festive events taking place this year.
