Developers have submitted £70 million plans to build 280 high-rise apartments on the Booths supermarket car park in the heart of MediaCityUK.
Private property developer and investment company Glenbrook has partnered with Peel L&P, to propose plans for new apartments to be built at MediaCityUK.
A planning application has been submitted to Salford City Council for the scheme on the surface car park immediately adjacent to Booths food store.
The building would be between 14 and 17 storeys high and will consist of one, two and three bedroom apartments for sale with facilities for residents including a gym and retail. Subject to approval, building with begin early in the summer of 2020.
Salford City Councillor Derek Antrobus has welcomed the plan. He said: “We welcome new developments which allow us to complete our vision for Salford and any proposals in line with that vision, making sure we have good public spaces in contribution to housing and economy.”
Communications manager Jo Whittaker from Peel L&P said: “It’s a really positive announcement that we have put forward planning permission for this scheme.
“It will improve Media City’s expansion plans which will see it double in size over the next ten years.
“It will enhance Media City as a thriving place to live, work and play.'”
The project is being delivered on behalf of Latimer, Clarion Housing Group’s development arm. Profits from Latimer are to be put back into Clarion Housing group and used to build affordable homes and invest in existing social housing.
