‘Cover All Basses’ is a tribute band made up of members of the Orchestra ‘The BBC Philharmonic’. The band started a joke between the group with Bass player Alice Durrant, saying: “the whole band idea started out as a bit of a joke between me and my colleagues, but then one day we thought, we could start a band.”

Last night ‘Cover All Basses’ held a charity event at The Dockyard in MediaCity. The event took place in order to raise money for BBC’s Children in Need. The band performed a range of covers from well known bands such as Oasis, Kings of Leon and Elvis.

This is the third year the gig has taken place and it continues to be a success. Alice says: “because we work for the BBC, its a charity that’s close to our hearts.”

The event was free, however there were people with buckets in the event, so customers could donate if they wanted to.

Alice says that the band hopes to continue to take part in the event in upcoming years because they enjoy taking part in events like this saying: “we just do it for fun, it’s nice to do this on the side, just because we want to, more than anything. It’s the highlight of our year”.

Children in Need will air on Friday the 15th November on BBC One. To donate, visit :bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/fundraising
