The expansion will make the Salford-based cricket ground the largest outside of London; with a capacity of 26,700. However, its not just additional seating that will come from the expansion. The plans also include a ticket office, heritage centre, retail shop and facilities for members.

Old Trafford played host to six of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup matches this year, including a semi-final, as well as the final day of the Ashes, where England failed to hold Australia to a draw. So it seems that the expansion is coming at a perfect time, where the love for the sport is at an all-time high.

Although the cost of the development hasn’t been released yet, it is said to be the finishing touch of the redevelopment of the entire ground and the Red Rose Suite; which has cost a total of £61 million so far.
