Fresh from its success at Manchester Fringe Festival, the one man production of ‘Our Kid’ is heading to The Kings Arms Salford on October 13 and 14.
The show centers around the relationship between two brothers living in Salford, but is told exclusively by one character, played by lead performer Taran Knight.
Knight, who wrote and stars in the show, uses his own experiences with gang culture to explore themes of domestic abuse, toxic masculinity and pressure that is placed on young people in Salford and Manchester.
Framed with a classic Manchester soundtrack, the production aims to raise awareness and attract a new audience to the theatre to tell working class stories to working class people.
‘Our Kid’ will be the first show from newly formed Northern Knights Productions, with their second show already in the pipeline for early 2020.
The company, founded by Taran Knight, hopes to continue its work in exploring working class culture and pushing the boundaries of contemporary theatre.
