The body of a man found in water close to Media City Metrolink station, Salford Quays, has been formally identified.
Officers were called to reports that a body had been seen in the water at around midday on Monday the 22nd of April this year.
Officers attended the scene and sadly found the body of a man, who has formally been identified as Martin Whelan, 46, from Salford.
Currently, the death is being treated as unexplained as there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Officers are appealing for information for those who may know more about the incident.
Inspector Joanne Key of GMP’s Salford District, said: “Our thoughts are with Martin’s family at this incredibly difficult time and we’re committed to finding out the full circumstances surrounding his death.
“While his death is being treated as non-suspicious, we’re appealing for anyone who might have seen Martin in the days preceding his body being found, or anyone with information, to contact us.”
