Promotion-chasing Salford City take on Sutton United at the Peninsula stadium under the lights tonight in a crucial National League match.
5th placed Salford go into the 7:45 PM kick off on the back of their first league victory after five failed attempts after a 1-0 win away at Ebbsfleet.
It was only their third league win since the turn of the year, and it came thanks to a 32nd-minute winner from Carl Piergianni.
Ammies boss Graham Alexander said after the victory: “We know we’ve been in a real difficult period of the season, a win’s a win, they’re hard to come by.
“But more than anything I’m delighted for the players because their work ethic has been superb in training each week and we probably haven’t had the rewards for that going into games, but that’s something we had to address ourselves.”

Sutton United also go into the game on a difficult run, without a win in four league games.
However, they go into the game with their own promotion hopes as they sit just three points below Salford.
Sutton United grew significantly in stature after an impressive FA Cup run in 2017 which saw them eventually losing to Premier League giants Arsenal in the fifth round of England’s major cup competition.
The two teams went up against each other in August with Sutton United taking maximum points from the encounter, winning 2-1 in a game that Salford opened the scoring.
The hosts will be looking to keep up their welcome record of not losing a Tuesday night league game since January 2016.
Victory for Graham Alexander’s men would help put breathing space between themselves and other playoff hopefuls whilst they will also be hoping to close the gap between them and the automatic promotion space, that is currently occupied by Wrexham.
