The Snowman has officially landed at MediaCityUK in Salford with the Walking with The Snowman Trail.
Raymond Briggs’ heart-warming tale has been brought to life by introducing the first ever public art trail of the nation’s favourite Christmas story.
Twelve giant versions of The Snowman, each decorated with inspiration from The Twelve Days of Christmas, will be displayed until 6th January 2019.
A free trail map, which includes games and puzzles, is available from The Lowry, MediaCityUK’s Open Centre and The Lowry Outlet. An electronic version can also be downloaded from: walkingwiththesnowman.co.uk/art-trail.
Providing free entertainment for Salford residents and visitors to MediaCityUK during the festive season, the sculpture trail is part of a number of events happening across Salford Quays in the run up to Christmas.
There will be free craft workshops, makers markets, a light festival, and a Santa’s grotto, with something for everyone to enjoy alongside the art trail.
Pupils from more than 40 schools have also taken part by designing their own 1 metre tall Snowman as part of the learning programme supported by Salford City Council.
Fans of The Snowman story can bid online from December 1 to buy one of the large Snowman sculptures to raise vital funds for this year’s BBC Children in Need.
The online auction can be found at: walkingwiththesnowman.co.uk/auction.
