It’s that time of year again Salford! The clocks fall back an hour, the night’s get darker, everyone starts to wrap up and preparations begin for the Halloween season ahead. This Halloween in Salford there will be plenty of spooky activities to keep everyone entertained. Here are Salford Now’s ten things to do in this Halloween!
1. Ordsall Hall Ghost Hunting
If you’re someone who’s always been fascinated by the paranormal or even had an encounter of the ghost kind then be prepared for a night of frights. You’ll be pleased to know that this Halloween Manchester Metropolitan University will hosting a walk. It will take place around Ordsall Hall as you investigate and discuss its iconic paranormal sightings. Who knows? Maybe this Halloween you’ll come face to face with a ghost of Salford’s past.
The event runs on October 31st starting at 8pm-11pm. Tickets are £10 for non-members and £5 for members.

2. Halloween Spooktacular + Witches Walk
Be prepared to get spooked this Halloween as Salford hosts its very own annual Halloween Spooktacular and Witches Walk. From 2pm at Buile Hill Park in Salford, the whole family can enjoy an afternoon of frightful face painting, gruesome glitter tattoos, fairground rides, performances from local bands, a creepy craft workshop, pedal powered cinema showing, Halloween family films, curious critter – meet bugs, reptiles and exotic animals and spooky storytelling.
From 4pm you can join the annual witches walk. Are you brave enough to enter the frightful zones each holding their very own scary characters? With plenty of special effects and even stilt walkers, are you and the family ready to embark on a journey for a memorable and frightful Halloween?
The event runs on October 26th 4pm at Buile Hill Park and tickets are £2.50 per person with under 2’s free admission.

3. Halloween Night Swim
If you’re looking to get active in Salford this Halloween then this Halloween swim is great for you. Join Helly Hansen Watersports Centre as it hosts its very own Halloween swim. Join in as you go on a scary 300m or 500m swimloop of Salford Quays. The event is suitable for 14+ and is limited to 50 brave swimmers. They’re even giving away a free Halloween swim cap, a glow stick and tasty soup with a bread roll at the finish line.
The event runs on October 29th 6:30-8:30pm and tickets are £20 if booked before midday on October 25th or £25 on the night.

4. Halloween Gnome Trail
Ghoulish gnomes are hiding and have taken over Ordsall Hall this autumn and it’s up to you to find them! From Sunday 21st October to Sunday October 28th, you can drop into Ordsall Hall and for only £1 while there, you can join in on the Halloween hunt for the gnomes. This a great activity for all the family in Salford this Halloween season. It’s a great autumn activity if you’re wanting to get out and about this half-term for Halloween.
5. Halloween Grotto
Ordsall Hall will be hosting its very own spooky Halloween grotto. On Wednesday 24th October and Thursday 25th October you can meet Ordsall Halls’ very own witch! Be prepared for frights and if you’re brave enough you can have a go at trying to solve the witches riddles and have a go at some of her spells that she has cooked up. Anyone brave enough to enter the witches grotto will receive a special Halloween gift to take away that afternoon.

6. Halloween Pebble Art Pebble Hunt
If you’re looking to crafty this Halloween season, there is going to be a pebble art pebble hunt taking place in Irlam’s Princes Park. On Saturday 27th October at 4-6pm, everyone can get involved in bringing their own handmade Halloween pebbles. You can even hand paint them yourself and go on a hunt for them. Take part in hiding and seeking yours and other’s Halloween pebbles for a fun afternoon outdoors this Halloween.
7. Family Halloween Fancy Dress Disco
The Firs Cadishead presents a party like no other at The Firs Sports Bar and Function Suite. If you love fun music and want to dance the afternoon away full of laughs and entertainment, this party is a one you and the family won’t want to miss. Tickets are £2 per person and the party will be held on Wednesday October 31st at 6pm. If you’re not able to make it there will be another party on Saturday November 3rd at 6:30pm where there will be a bonfire disco if you miss out on it this time around.
8. Live Pro Wrestling
On Sunday October 28th Salford Lifestyle Centre will be hosting their very own trick or treat live pro wrestling event. The local professional wrestling spooktacular is great for anyone who loves the sport and is a great afternoon full of laughs and entertainment. Doors open at 2:30pm with the first bell sounding at 3pm. Tickets are £7 and this event is open to everyone who wants to come along for an afternoon of frightful fighting.

9. Follow The Spiders + Flash Tattoos
Halloween just got a whole lot more creepy. If you’re brave enough you can follow the spiders down to Old Empire Tattoo in Walkden Salford. Inside there will be a spectacular and special Halloween event, which will involve you getting to try Halloween tattoos. From £13 on Wednesday October 31st you can try various styles and designs of tattoos especially for Halloween.
10. Makers Market Halloween Stalls
For another year, Makers Market is returning to Salford with its Halloween food, art and crafts stalls. The event will be held at The Lowry outlet in Salford across October 27th and October 28th. It will be a fantastic weekend for everyone to enjoy the Halloween festivities and get outdoor for an autumn afternoon. Discover some of the best handcrafted and homemade food, drink, vintage and modern craft. There will be music, performers and amazing festive lights through to the evening. This event is FREE and it is suitable for everyone!
