A dead body was found in the River Irwell last Sunday. Circumstances surrounding the death of the man are not being treated as suspicious say Police.
Police and the fire service were called to Cromwell Bridge in Higher Broughton yesterday afternoon following reports of a body in the River Irwell.

The victim, believed to be in his sixties, is yet to be identified by emergency services however the circumstances surrounding his death are not being treated as suspicious.
Paths leading to the side of the of the river were shut off at the time of the investigation.
In a press release, Greater Manchester Police have said: “Officers and the fire service attended and have confirmed it is, unfortunately, the body of a man.
“There are no further details at this time but an investigation is being launched to establish who the man is and how his body came to be there.”
The public has also been asked to avoid the site whilst emergency services carry out their investigation.
