The first of five Roses matches in 2018 takes place tomorrow at Emirates Old Trafford when Lancashire host Yorkshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Lancashire will be feeling confident going into this match following two consecutive victories over Leicestershire and Derbyshire respectively.
Despite the two victories, the Red Rose county can’t qualify for the knockout stages of the competition as other results in the North Group haven’t gone in their favour.
The home captain Liam Livingstone has been in fine form in the competition. The last three matches have seen him notch scores of 67, 90* and 86.
Another key figure for the Old Trafford outfit is Matt Parkinson. The 21-year-old has dazzled with the white ball this year with his accurate leg-spin. He has taken 16 wickets in the Royal London One-Day Cup at an average of 16 runs per wicket. He also claimed career-best match figures of 5-68 in the opening match against Nottinghamshire.
The visitors can’t qualify for the knockout stages either but that doesn’t mean that the game won’t be competitive. The two sides have met 62 times in various List-A competitions since 1963, with Lancashire leading 34-24. There have been four games without a result and three abandonments.
The White Rose county also go into the match with confidence after they too beat Derbyshire in a rain-affected match last week.
Key performers for Yorkshire with the bat have been Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Cheteshwar Pujara who both average over 85. With the ball, Ben Coad, Adil Rashid and Steven Patterson have claimed 20 wickets between them.
The match gets underway at 11am.
