Both Haseeb Hameed and Stephen Parry have been named in the Lancashire second XI squad who travel to the County Ground to face Northampton in the Second XI Trophy. The full twelve man squad that make the trip to Northampton is listed below.
Hameed who last featured for England in Mohali against India in November 2016, was left out of the Lancashire team who yesterday secured 11 points in a draw against Somerset. He has been in poor form with the bat so far this season averaging just 7 runs from his five innings this season and has yet to pass the 20 run mark.
Hameed was replaced at the top of the order by wicketkeeper batsman Alex Davies for the game against Somerset who stepped up the order from the number three position. Allowing Lancashire legend James Anderson to step in to the side for the first time this season.
Fellow former England international Stephen Parry has yet to feature for the Lancashire first team this season. The 32 year old spin bowler’s last England appearance came in 2015 when England faced Pakistan in Dubai in the second of a three match T20 series
With Parry not featuring in the first class side the spin bowling duties have instead been left to Lancashire captain Liam Livingston and the star of the final day against Somerset Matthew Parkinson. The 21 year old Parkinson grabbed five wickets against Somerset and is now likely to take over the reins as the side’s main spin bowling option.
The Lancashire second XI have only played one game this season so far which was a 3 wicket loss to rivals Yorkshire in mid-April, their other fixtures against Derbyshire and Cheshire were both abandoned without a ball being bowled.
