Salford City can extend their unbeaten run tonight when they travel to Merseyside to take on mid-table Southport.
The Ammies are unbeaten in their last ten games, with Southport failing to win any of their last 4.
A win for Salford and a defeat to promotion rivals Harrogate town, who play Boston tonight, would move Salford to within a point of promotion from the National League North.
In the reverse fixture, the Ammies came back from 1-0 down to end Southport’s unbeaten start to the season.
Salford find themselves sitting atop of National League North, 3 points ahead of promotion rivals Harrogate who have a vastly superior goal difference.
Any slip up from Salford will leave the door wide open, leaving the prospect of the play offs for a second season running a real possibility.
On the game, Salford striker Mani Dieseruvwe told the club website: “The boys are flying, confident now. We know we’ve been on a good run so we need to make sure we keep going and keep winning, keep being hard to beat first of all and hopefully the points will come from that.”
Southport will have had promotion aspirations themselves at the start of the season, but a 15 game run without a win saw them slip into relegation trouble before a revival under former Blackburn and Bolton striker Kevin Davies.
Salford City ran out 2-0 winners against Nuneaton town over the weekend courtesy of goals from Nick Haughton and Carl Piergiani, as they strengthened their promotion credentials.
Southport on the other hand were put to the sword by Salford’s nearest promotion rivals Harrogate Town, losing 2-0.
