The ex-graduates beat Benidorm, Still Open All Hours and The Big Bang Theory to win Best Comedy Show.
Sian Gibson collected the award last night (23 January) at the O2 Arena in London. She stated Peter Kay was ‘gutted’ he couldn’t be there:
“Obviously I have got to say thank you so much to Mr Peter Kay.
“He is gutted he can’t be here tonight but he sends his love. He is going to be over the moon so we’re going to go and ring him.”
This follows the news that Peter Kay decided to cancel his UK tour due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.

Not surprised #carshare won. It's the most beautifully realistic depiction of two people falling in love and all the awkward, complicated heart-warming silliness that follows… #NationalTelevisionAwards pic.twitter.com/gLbc5vqScZ
