FOLLOWING Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat over Bournemouth last night Mourinho confirmed that Eric Bailly’s injury is “serious”.
The centre-back picked up an ankle injury while playing for his international team Ivory Coast. He hasn’t played for United since they lost 1-0 to Chelsea, meaning he has missed 8 games for the club, including the Manchester Derby last weekend.
Jose Mourinho commented on Eric Baily’s injury, he said: “I think it is serious.
“We are trying a conservative treatment but if the conservative treatment is not resulting, he will probably have a surgery procedure.”
When asked if he thought Baily’s season was over he stated: “I don’t want to be so pessimistic, I want to leave it with the doctor, but you see today, I played Smalling and Jones and we had Lindelof and Blind on the bench. Marcos Rojo was injured [against Manchester City] but nothing really big.
“All season we’ve had problems with central defenders but because the number is four or five we always manage to have [players available] and Chris Smalling is playing amazingly well for 7 or 8 matches in a row, so we are fine.
While it has not been confirmed when Bailly will be back playing for Manchester United it is expected he will miss the remaining games of the year including fixtures against West Brom Albion, Bristol City, in the Carabao Cup, Leicester City and Burnley.
Gutted, Eric Bailly might be out for months. ?
