Manchester derby was given a ‘high terror threat’ warning last weekend.
On Sunday evening, the Manchester derby took place and, with the game being so anticipated and broadcasted, it was given a ‘high-risk’ terror alert.
Sam Burton, a General Steward at Manchester United spoke to QuaysNews about how life at work has changed since the tragedy.
Mr Burton said: “Well obviously it was a very sad event at Manchester Arena, you now feel that the atmosphere changes at games.
“You are more vigilant, you are more aware of your surroundings, everything you do is done with that little bit more detail. There is definitely more police around.”
The terror alert comes after the fear of a repeat of the Manchester Arena attack which took place in May this year.
Thousands of fans took to their seats for the game which resulted in Manchester United losing 2-1 to Manchester City. The safety of everyone inside of the stadium at the time of a match is crucial to stewards like Burton.
“It’s all about us doing our job as best we can and the spectators having a safe and fun day out because its really vital that they enjoy the experience.
“We take the precautions to ensure that something like the Manchester Arena attack never happens again.”
