A point at Old Trafford will ensure qualification for Manchester United, as they host CSKA Moscow tonight in the UEFA Champions League.
The Red’s head into tonight’s fixture on the back of an impressive 3-1 away win at Arsenal, with goalkeeper David De Gea the star of the show, making 14 saves against the Gunners.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been a reliable performer at United this season, keeping a clean sheet in nine of his 15 Premier League appearances – a 60% clean sheet percentage. However, Jose Mourinho is expected to rest the 27-year-old, with Sergio Romero likely to come in.
Paul Pogba will be eligible to start. The French midfielder was sent-off in Saturday’s away victory over Arsenal, with the club deciding not to appeal the decision which will result in the French international missing out on the next three matches.
Nemanja Matic (muscle problem) is expected to miss tonight, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be rested, however Luke Shaw is expected to make a return to the side. The 22-year-old defender has been out of favour with Jose Mourinho and has not made a single appearance in the Premier League this season. His last league appearance for the club was back in April.
It has been an impressive Champions League campaign so far for Manchester United, winning four of their five games and will be expecting to qualify as Group winners. A draw tonight against CSKA Moscow will ensure that they qualify as victors of Group A, but this feat won’t ensure an easy tie in the last 16.
If United win Group A, they will face clubs that have finished second in their groups. This could mean a potential clash with European heavyweights such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Juventus.
