WORLD champion bodybuilder gave a demonstration at the University of Salford Sports Centre.

James ‘Flex’ Lewis gave a bodybuilding demonstration to students at the University on Wednesday 29th November.

Tom Pye, Fitness Instructor at University of Salford Sports Centre, said: “He is an international bodybuilder, he has won Mr Olympia which highest accolade in bodybuilding.”

The former Mr Olympia matched legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger’s record of consecutive Mr Olympia wins.

The Welsh-born bodybuilder who now lives in the United States of America was in Salford already after working with the BBC at MediaCity, which the University has a good connection with.

The event not only gave a sporting perspective but a academic outlook  on bodybuilding too.

Dr Steven Atkins, the University’s Director of Sport, Exercise and Physiotherapy, worked along side ‘Flex’ to give an academic perspective on the science behind the sport.

Daley Oneal, Front of House Manager for University of Salford sports centre said: ‘With Steve there as well putting the science behind it with Flex was fantastic to see.’

Mr Pye said: ‘It was an informational lecture for the students, and we got to see the world of bodybuilding from the perspective of a champion.’

Mr Oneal said: ‘We hope with Salford growing we will attract more people like Flex to the University and with Steve we look to put on more events like this in the future.’
