PEP Guardiola has warned that his Manchester City side will be coming up against one of the top three sides in Europe when they face Napoli in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday.
Guardiola’s side have made a breath-taking start to this season’s Premier League, sitting top of the table and scoring a record 29 goals in just eight games – a record that had previously stood since 1894.
Despite the fantastic start, the Manchester City manager has urged his players to avoid getting complacent as his side head into their Champions League encounter this week.
“If they think that, then they’ll be stupid,” Guardiola said answering a question on possible over confidence of his players.
“I will show you, like I did against Shakhtar Donetsk, how good my team is.”
When asked whether he thought his side were up there with the best in Europe, Guardiola decided to remain tight lipped on the matter, “It’s better if I don’t saying anything.”
“We are solid. The mood in training is excellent. Winning games helps and the players we have to help us win games, it only breeds confidence.”
Manchester City will be hoping Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne can emulate his stunning performance from the weekend.
“I seem to be always talking about Kevin at the moment. He is a player that is so dynamic; he is a talented player who has made some great performances.”
City are currently top of Champions League Group E and face Napoli in their third match of their group at the Etihad tomorrow.
