The event encourages people of all ages to get active to raise money for charities in Great Britain and across the world in the poorest of countries.
Gary Lineker, Match of the Day presenter who is returning as the host of Sports Relief says: “It is an immense privilege to present Sport Relief and I have loved working with the charity over the years.
“Being familiar with Salford already thanks to Match of the Day, I just know the programme will be given the warm welcome it deserves in the North.”
The last Sports Relief held in 2016 raised a massive £72.6 million, thanks to people across the country getting involved in humorous and creative ways to help the charity.
Alice Webb, Director of BBC North says: ” The North West is seriously passionate about sport and has a real sense of community making it the ideal new home for Sport Relief TV.”
MediaCityUK is already the home to BBC Sport since their big move from London to Salford in 2011.
