AN evening of spoken word, poetry and live music has taken place for Trafford rape crisis in order to raise much needed funds.
As well as work from Manchester artists Keisha Thompson and Afshan D’souza-Lodhi, the night showcased the poetry of women in HM prison Styall.
They created the work as part of a project with Trafford Rape crisis which is trying to address the high number of women in prison that are victims of sexual violence but receive no help.
Organiser Amy Morgan said: “Research shows Women’s services are disproportionately hit by cuts to public spending and we have to find one third of our funding from events like this.”
Trafford Rape Crisis respond to around three thousand calls every week and is a vital resource for women seeking advice.
